HHELLOOOOOOOOO! Just got back from C4 in L.A. THANKS to everyone who came out to see me and made it such a success!!! I had a great time.
A big thanks to Ben and Phillip of Official Pix for having me out there. I do apologize for not getting to all of the parties, socials and events, but I was really tired from the travel, and I don't think I stopped talking and smiling for the 9 hours I was at the convention every day. What a great time!
Thanks so much to Master Replicas for their party. I met so many really great people. We also had an amazing dinner at Crustacean with Michonne and her husband and friends. Michonne's friend Marissa was there. She's a super model with Victoria's Secret! What a nice night.
Congrats to Michonne and her husband on the baby to come in November. Congrats to Amy and Chris (Hoobastank) on their engagement. It's really nice to see so many people happy and doing well. I miss them all when we are apart so long.
The opening ceremonies were kind of crazy! Can't say I've ever been asked to eat cake on stage! I got to see lots of old friends including Pete from Texas. I want to say to a special friend of ours who is battling against a life threatening illness, Rob, hang in there. Stay strong. We love you. I also met a couple of gentlemen just back from the war. It was an honor and pleasure. Thank you for what you have done and continue to do. My family prays for peace, for a solution, daily.
Please send me any pictures you all have of the con so that I have a few mementos for the site and myself. My camera and film were so kindly taken from my checked luggage on my way home. Thanks Delta and TSA... 27 lost memories. And I hope my conditioner does wonders for your hair!!
Now, for the great news. I talked to Bryan from Master Replicas while I was there. Seems they have made a replica of Mara's lightsaber for distribution in August. You can go to the website at MasterReplicas.com to preorder. It is on sale for official members as of Tuesday, and for the rest of us on Thursday. Only a few of them will be made... and they have kindly asked me to sign them! Yay! We will do that in a few weeks.
Next, I'm certain you know the new novel is out. I can't say that I will read it, but I do know what happens. And if you have issues with the picture Del Rey used on the front, pleaaseeeee, write them and let them know. I can't do anything about it... I hadn't even seen the cover art until I was in L.A. Thanks for the e-mails, but we really have to let them know we are not happy! I did not get to see the new action figure that Hasbro had of Mara. I have heard it comes out next year, and I look forward to seeing it and to getting one. Someone send me a picture and more info if you come across it. I understand it was taken more from the comic book pictures of Mara, more like the old stuff, the old figure. I just hope they don't use Princess Leia's mold again!
The next little tidbit is that I have been talking to Mark from XpressEntertainment.ca about a project he is doing called "Secrets of the Rebellion". It's a little part and just for fun, not pay. But it does sound like a good time. Look him up if you get a chance. We should be filming in August sometime. I'll keep you posted.
And last of all, I'm very much looking forward to seeing everyone in the UK next month. If it is anything like Celebration Mexico, it will be amazing. Please stop by to see me as it will be my only trip to Europe this year. I will let you know if I make the trip to Japan, Puerto Rico, or back to Mexico. I've received so many wonderful invitations and will do my best to get to as many conventions as I can... but I do have three little ones that get very lonely without mom.
Just a quick note of thanks to Alan, my webmaster, for getting all of these updates and diary entries out so quickly... I'm glad someone is talented in the art of web design... I swear it's hard for me to check e-mail and download a new song or two onto my iPod. Guess I finally know what I should have studied in college.
